Some more journal ideas...

For those of you struggling to find things to write about in your journals, here are some more ideas for you:

  • Keep a journal of any television you watch which demonstrates any of the conventions of tragedy. For each entry, explain which elements of tragedy are present.
  • Re-write a traditional fairytale to include all of the traditional elements of a tragedy
  • Find a newspaper article which sensationalises a tragic event and annotate to explain why it has done so
  • Choose a selection of the “critical quotations” which we have used in class and write a paragraph on each explaining whether you agree or disagree with the sentiment expressed
  • Decide which three of your favourite characters from film, television or books best fit the stereotype of a tragic hero and write a paragraph for each explaining why you think this
